On 15 August 1913 the 50th Regiment was authorized to augment the 88th Regiment (Victoria Fusiliers) which had been formed on 3 September 1912. The Canadian Scottish Regimental museum was opened by the Regiment's Colonel-in-Chief Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, GCVO, CD in May 1980.
